Most Frequently Used Idioms

1- Above board : open, honest and legal
"There are no secret negotiations. Our dealings have always been above board"
2- Pass the buck : to blame someone or to make them responsible for a problem that you should deal with yourself .
"Parents often try to pass the buck to teachers when children misbehave in school."
Don't try to pass the buck! It's your fault, and everybody knows it. Some people try to pass the buck whenever they can.
3-Carve out a niche :A person or company who carves out a niche focuses on a particular segment of the market, to which they supply a product or service, and develop their expertise in that area.
"In today's competitive market it's better to carve out a niche and try to become the best in that area."
4- Dog eat dog : intense competition and rivalry in pursuit of one's own interests, with no concern for morality
The business world is tough today. There's a general dog-eat-dog attitude."
5-In the doldrums : situation is gloomy and that nothing new is happening
"Despite the recent measures, the economy remains in the doldrums."
